5 Ways Reiki Supports Transformation
By Mary Schlaphoff, Reiki Master
Reiki energy healing can be a powerful tool to support us in times of transition and change. As a Reiki master, I specialize in working with clients experiencing transformation in one or more areas of life. Sometimes, these are consciously chosen, such as a career change. Other times, they’re something you didn’t consciously want or see coming, like divorce or loss of a loved one.
In this post, I wanted to share some 5 ways Reiki supports transformation.
1. You get to rest
I’m leading with this one because I think it’s one of the unique things about energy healing compared to a lot of other self-care options. When you get an energy healing, all or most of the session is dedicated to allowing you to simply be and receive. You’re not exercising. You’re not talking. You may be thinking, but the Reiki energy supports you in allowing your mind to be quieter for a bit. Reiki lets you turn over the work to someone else for a little while, and yet still come away feeling healed, supported, and rested.
2. Intuitive insights may come through
Ever had this happen? You’ve been dealing with a thorny situation at your job or in a relationship. You’ve been anxious and angry about it, and you don’t know what to do. You’ve tried talking it out and thinking it through, but you feel stuck. You decide to take a vacation to recharge and forget about things for a while . . . and an answer comes. You might think, “Why didn’t that occur to me before?”
Those moments of letting go create a space for intuitive ideas to come through. It’s common to experience that same phenomenon during Reiki sessions. The insights could be ideas for next steps or sources of courage for dealing with the challenges
we face. You don’t have to travel far away.

3. You get support from another person
When you’re going through a major life transition, having a supportive guide who just “gets it” can be invaluable. Reiki practitioners are empathetic listeners. Most of us came to Reiki because we’ve been through intense transformations and healing journeys of our own, and we bring those insights to our practice for our clients, too.
In addition, it’s a relief to most people to lie down on the table and let someone else lead what happens in your life for an hour. Particularly if you’re usually responsible for others (like children, students, employees, or aging parents), Reiki sessions are a nice break that let someone else take the wheel for a bit.
4. Energetic blocks can be removed
Part of the underlying philosophy of Reiki in times of life change is that much of our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. If you’re encountering a lot of roadblocks to your external goals, it could indicate corresponding inner energetic blocks, too. If it’s for your highest good for these hurdles to be removed, Reiki can be used to clear those internal blocks and facilitate a path-clearing in your external circumstances, too.
5. You gain more peace and clarity
This is what most people are looking for, ultimately, when they come to Reiki. Peace doesn’t mean we become numb to our feelings and circumstances. It means we have a clearer understanding and resolve to accept what needs acceptance and change what needs to be changed. Reiki sessions can help you see what you need to do and what you need to let go of, and improve your confidence as you move forward to act on those insights.
